Open your heart and the mind will take it course..

Remember the time when Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) was a big hype and almost all companies seek to be labeled as MSC status company? (which incude a few engineering companies which sole business are only on servicing air-conditioners).

OK, that's not the point. I remember those were the days when Government are looking into the possibilities of creating license for anybody who wanted to own a website and also censorship regulations for all web content.

The news yesterday (25th October 2004), as I read at The Star Online stated that the Energy, Water and Communications Ministry has decided that the government will uphold its commitment to non-censorship of the Internet, but no violations of the law will be tolerated, as said at the launch of the Communications and Multimedia Content Code.

However, the minister describe the code as 'a test for self discipline'. (hmm.. let see how that goes..)

The brighter part of the news is, the ministry, with the establishment of Communications and Multimedia Content Forum (CMCF), will now also be working on formulating ways to encourage the growth of local content development citing that there was a “dire need to recognise the creative industry.”

“There is a need to ensure that creative businesses have access to appropriate financial support, and that the financial sector is aware of opportunities and benefits of investing in the creative industry,”said Professor Tony Lee, Chairman of CMCF.

At last people, there's some light for the creative people in Malaysia. Hope the light does not fade away.

With less restriction over freedon of expression and speech, let's hope Malaysians can be more creative and be more appreciative over creativity. Yes, it's not as 'professional' as being a lawyer or accountant or doctor or engineer (no offense).. but this is no longer the 60's and anything you do with all your heart and mind IS professional.

You can learn to be creative BUT remember, talent is God given.

RAMADHAN AL MUBARAK everybody...
