Welcome Back to the Scene

Remember the year 1991. The year where local music scene made quite a huge impact. This is also the year where a great singer name Zainal Abidin released his first ever Solo album after leaving his former band Headwind and his album 'Hijau' came by storm to all of us. Masterminded by the magnificent duo of Mukhlis Nor and Roslan Aziz (yes kids.. Roslan Aziz is not a staff of 8TV to judge Malaysian Idol).. The aura and music of Zainal Abidin is not just another pop hit. It changes many things to our perception in the local music scene. First, it proves that you don't need a mushy love song as a first single to hit the market. Second, there's no such thing as urban song or 'kampung' song. If it's a good song, everybody, no matter who you are will appreciate it. Third, If you do it good enough, it's not just Malaysian love it, the international scene will recognise it too.

Now, he's back with his new album after almost 10 years without an album. You might have heard his pre-album single 'Gaia' on radio. Now, the next single titled 'Puteri' is on air. A magnificent pop ballad that could easily haunt you. Here's the lyric..

PUTERI - Zainal Abidin

Harum semerbak kasturi indah mewangi
Cantik rupa parasnya puteri di sinar maya
Cinta bukannya semata yang ku perlu zahirmu
Hey..Puteri..

Kini kau tiada lagi tinggallah aku sendiri
Rindu di hati ku ini tak dapat aku sembunyi
Entah bila kan kembali
Setelah kau pergi oh...

Puteri..
Malam ku dingin tiada pujuk rayumu
Kembalilah..
Ku kehilangan tawa mesramu itu
Oh puteri..
Malam ku dingin aku kehilanganmu
Kembalilah..
Mengertilah oh kekasihku
Oh.. puteri ku

Dengarkanlah rayuan (hati)
Tak sanggup aku kehilanganmu
Di dalam jaga aku keliru
Oh.. mengertilah

Kembalilah
Malam ku dingin tiada pujuk rayumu
Puteriku..
Ku kehilangan tawa mesramu itu
Kembalilah..
Malam ku dingin aku kehilanganmu
Kekasihku.. mengertilah oh kekasihku.. oh..

Kekasihku.. kembalilah..

Nice and very poetic indeed. Isn't it?.. To Zainal Abidin, Welcome back to the scene. The Malaysian music scene in dying need of great talents to show the way.

p.s I'm still waiting for my own copy of this new album to arrive. Come on people, apsal la slow sangat ni.
