ATTENTION : Halloween is posponed due to the unavoidable situation of the all hantus..

"Hahaha... Camna nak celebrate halloween? Hantu semua kena ikat. Lepas raya je la boleh celebrate. OK tak?"

That's not really want I to write about. But, in the name of spooky, this week theme in most blogs is either melancholic or related to M Nasir and his work. Yes, I found interesting story about this ex-boss of mine in Ninie's blog. Than went through Yamm's blog and read about how his song is haunting her mind till now. I guess lovely melody, combines with beautiful lyrics can affect our mind as it will get our heart to love it.

From what I experienced, people in Luncai Emas are talented in doing so. From M Nasir, S Amin Shahab, Loloq , Seth.. to the new batch such as Tam Spider , Nafie and Mail. All groomed to be talented in a very intelligent way for music.

Here are a few of what we call "ayat power" in their songs..

"Jika ini hakikatnya
Aku serahkan jiwa dan ragaku
Menantimu walau sengsara
Jika ini ketentuannya

Jika ini hakikatnya
Aku serahkan jiwa dan raga
Jika ini ketentuannya
Kau kan jadi milikku jua..."

from : Bagaikan Sakti (OST Puteri Gunung Ledang : 2004)

"Biar malam mentertawakan aku,
Biar habis badanku dimamah rindu,
Namun membiarkan ingatanku luput dari mengenangmu,
Itu sama sekali takkan ku lakukan"

"Habis apa lagi yg harus kuhadapi,
Untuk memiliki jiwa sepertimu kasih,
Dalam seribu tak bisa ku temu,
Sejuta hanya satu,
Mimpikah aku kali ini?"

from : Aduhai Kasih Aduhai (Canggung Mendonan : 1994)

"Dan jika kudiberi pilihan, sayang
Antara seluruh harta dunia dan engkau, sayang
Sedikit pun tak berganjak, sayang
Kau tetap pilihanku..."

from : Semakin Nyata (Solo : 1988)

OK. I'll stop here before I got anybody feeling all melancholic and lying on the bed alone while staring at the ceiling and think about nothing else (and yes, tangan atas dahi dan mengeluh ala drama melayu).. Or get anybody all puked up. Either way, Bahasa Melayu is a beautiful languange. It does express emotions in a beautiful way. Maybe we should realise that..

SO... Which malay lyrics affect you most? I would love to know.

TRICK OR TREAT people....

It's an Emergency.. We Now Declare War!!

"In the name of Festive Promotion, we are at the state of war. Stand up and choose the right package for you."

Have you read the newspapers these past 2 weeks? No, not the news in particular but the prepaid starter pack campaign from all the telcos.

It started out with Digi promoting their new starter pack at RM18. Then comes Celcom with their RM20 starter pack and lastly Hotlink with their own RM20 starter pack. All of which with preloaded airtime of RM10 and additional RM10 upon sending over the registration card and all in the name on 'Festive Promotion'.

To make the war heater. Last Monday Digi even announced thier new reloading scheme which allows you to reload at any amount you can afford starting from RM1. Even better, Digi Prepaid user can also transfer their preloaded credit to another Digi Prepaid user from as low as RM3 as long as you have a minimum of RM20 in your credit balance.

So what's with this new war among the telcos? My assumption is that the market is now too saturated that you're now targeting young new user to have their own lines. If possible, have 2 or 3 lines in hand.

I'm expecting even more 4 year old kids will have their own handphone after this campaign. Using their 'duit raya' to buy the handphone . The telco will then start launching their new SMS services for these kids and you'll know where these leads after that.

Parents beware. These war will affect small kids from now. *evil grin*

Open your heart and the mind will take it course..

Remember the time when Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) was a big hype and almost all companies seek to be labeled as MSC status company? (which incude a few engineering companies which sole business are only on servicing air-conditioners).

OK, that's not the point. I remember those were the days when Government are looking into the possibilities of creating license for anybody who wanted to own a website and also censorship regulations for all web content.

The news yesterday (25th October 2004), as I read at The Star Online stated that the Energy, Water and Communications Ministry has decided that the government will uphold its commitment to non-censorship of the Internet, but no violations of the law will be tolerated, as said at the launch of the Communications and Multimedia Content Code.

However, the minister describe the code as 'a test for self discipline'. (hmm.. let see how that goes..)

The brighter part of the news is, the ministry, with the establishment of Communications and Multimedia Content Forum (CMCF), will now also be working on formulating ways to encourage the growth of local content development citing that there was a “dire need to recognise the creative industry.”

“There is a need to ensure that creative businesses have access to appropriate financial support, and that the financial sector is aware of opportunities and benefits of investing in the creative industry,”said Professor Tony Lee, Chairman of CMCF.

At last people, there's some light for the creative people in Malaysia. Hope the light does not fade away.

With less restriction over freedon of expression and speech, let's hope Malaysians can be more creative and be more appreciative over creativity. Yes, it's not as 'professional' as being a lawyer or accountant or doctor or engineer (no offense).. but this is no longer the 60's and anything you do with all your heart and mind IS professional.

You can learn to be creative BUT remember, talent is God given.

RAMADHAN AL MUBARAK everybody...

Road Less Travelled

I love travelling. Not that I have a lot of money to travel but I love to travel. From travelling the modern way of using travel agent to travel by my own creativity and my own means. I've done it.

I believe the most exciting thing in travelling anywhere is when you go to the road less travelled. Places within reach that you never expect to go in the first place. Things you will never experience unless you let your mind free and give it a try.

One of such example is my trishaw tour. Everytime I saw trishaws (beca, basikal roda tiga or whatever you like to call them) around the area, it always intrigued me to get a ride. It's not the cheap thrill of riding the trishaw. It's not 'Seniman Bujang Lapuk' experience that got me excited (remember : first class pun sama, second class pun sama, saya penat mengayuh..)but, the stories by the trishaw peddlers about the town they had always lived in. I'm always facinated by their stories.

Road Less Travelled as I put it is in fact a journey with them along the streets never be seen with any bus ride. A journey experiencing the town first hand by a true local guide. The passion of the people in certain things you never knew. Best of all, understanding them more clearly on how they view to certain matters of life.

I've taken 2 rides in Malacca. Just cruising around the town and visit places that's not on any tourist brochure and a ride in Penang, where I could see places that never I thought would still exist in the 90's. Both rides are peddled by an old man, experienced enough to tell the stories of their place and the history of these places in their own way.

I wish I could do that again. All rides are done in the 90's. One thing I forgot to do is to keep a documentation of these rides. It would be great to share with all of you.

So here's my wish. I'll be keeping this 'Road Less Travelled' idea in mind (yes, shithead!!. you can steal my idea but you can;t steal my passion) and I'll be working to get this project on as soon as possible. I will start back in Malacca, I'll be crusing back in Penang and another trip in Singapore (wow.. I exactly named all 3 States of the straits). From there onwards, I will identify any other places with trishaw and seek my way to go there and document about it as well. All questions are ready, all angles to scoop on are set, just looking for a way to fund my personal project here.. Anybody interested?.. Interested to join me maybe?

I hope I could get this done. A piece of our shared culture will at least documented in a certain way.

Still with me in my dreams..

There's a saying I heard.. "When you really missed someone, it hurts". I guess I understand the exactly what it means now. Later today, I was browsing through my MySpace, (which I can't remember the last time I logged in) I came across this one writing I posted back in June. Enjoy reading it...

Note : This is not my original writing. Something that I bump into and I thought of sharing it with others.. I guess what you feel is what you can't lie.

Only once in your life, I truly believe, you find someone who can completely turn your world around.

You tell them things that you've never shared with another soul and they absorb everything you say and actually want to hear more.

You share hopes for the future, dreams that will never come true, goals that were never achieved and the many disappointments life has thrown at you.

When something wonderful happens, you can't wait to tell them about it, knowing they will share in your excitement.

They are not embarrassed to cry with you when you are hurting or laugh with you when you make a fool of yourself.

Never do they hurt your feelings or make you feel like you are not good enough, but rather they build you up and show you the things about yourself that make you special and even beautiful.

There is never any pressure, jealousy or competition but only a quiet calmness when they are around.

You can be yourself and not worry about what they will think of you because they love you for who you are.

The things that seem insignificant to most people such as a note, song or walk become invaluable treasures kept safe in your heart to cherish forever.

Memories of your childhood come back and are so clear and vivid it's like being young again. Colors seem brighter and more brilliant.

Laughter seems part of daily life where before it was infrequent or didn't exist at all.

A phone call or two during the day helps to get you through a long day's work and always brings a smile to your face.

In their presence, there's no need for continuous conversation, but you find you're quite content in just having them nearby.

Things that never interested you before become fascinating because you know they are important to this person who is so special to you.

You think of this person on every occasion and in everything you do. Simple things bring them to mind like a pale blue sky, gentle wind or even a storm cloud on the horizon.

You open your heart knowing that there's a chance it may be broken one day and in opening your heart, you experience a love and joy that you never dreamed possible.

You find that being vulnerable is the only way to allow your heart to feel true pleasure that's so real it scares you.

You find strength in knowing you have a true friend and possibly a soul mate who will remain loyal to the end.

Life seems completely different, exciting and worthwhile. Your only hope and security is in knowing that they are a part of your life.

END

Hey, it's not everyday you got to see me this side of me. Most of the time you won't. Oh well, I'm human after all.. Sorry if I made any of you puke.

RAMADHAN AL-MUBARAK EVERYBODY.. May all the blessings with you..

Welcome Back to the Scene

Remember the year 1991. The year where local music scene made quite a huge impact. This is also the year where a great singer name Zainal Abidin released his first ever Solo album after leaving his former band Headwind and his album 'Hijau' came by storm to all of us. Masterminded by the magnificent duo of Mukhlis Nor and Roslan Aziz (yes kids.. Roslan Aziz is not a staff of 8TV to judge Malaysian Idol).. The aura and music of Zainal Abidin is not just another pop hit. It changes many things to our perception in the local music scene. First, it proves that you don't need a mushy love song as a first single to hit the market. Second, there's no such thing as urban song or 'kampung' song. If it's a good song, everybody, no matter who you are will appreciate it. Third, If you do it good enough, it's not just Malaysian love it, the international scene will recognise it too.

Now, he's back with his new album after almost 10 years without an album. You might have heard his pre-album single 'Gaia' on radio. Now, the next single titled 'Puteri' is on air. A magnificent pop ballad that could easily haunt you. Here's the lyric..

PUTERI - Zainal Abidin

Harum semerbak kasturi indah mewangi
Cantik rupa parasnya puteri di sinar maya
Cinta bukannya semata yang ku perlu zahirmu
Hey..Puteri..

Kini kau tiada lagi tinggallah aku sendiri
Rindu di hati ku ini tak dapat aku sembunyi
Entah bila kan kembali
Setelah kau pergi oh...

Puteri..
Malam ku dingin tiada pujuk rayumu
Kembalilah..
Ku kehilangan tawa mesramu itu
Oh puteri..
Malam ku dingin aku kehilanganmu
Kembalilah..
Mengertilah oh kekasihku
Oh.. puteri ku

Dengarkanlah rayuan (hati)
Tak sanggup aku kehilanganmu
Di dalam jaga aku keliru
Oh.. mengertilah

Kembalilah
Malam ku dingin tiada pujuk rayumu
Puteriku..
Ku kehilangan tawa mesramu itu
Kembalilah..
Malam ku dingin aku kehilanganmu
Kekasihku.. mengertilah oh kekasihku.. oh..

Kekasihku.. kembalilah..

Nice and very poetic indeed. Isn't it?.. To Zainal Abidin, Welcome back to the scene. The Malaysian music scene in dying need of great talents to show the way.

p.s I'm still waiting for my own copy of this new album to arrive. Come on people, apsal la slow sangat ni.

Lost in Translation

Remember the good old times going to the movies? Remember how subtitles are so funny back then? Maybe it is still funny now. It's been a while since I last went to a cinema (the last movie I went was "something gotta give". Yup, ancient.. boohoo me). That's not the point. Just imagine how these phrases would sound if you translate ot directly into Bahasa Melayu.

What the hell happened here? - Neraka apa yg terjadi disini?

Cut the crap!!! - Potong tahi itu!!

Damn that bitch!! - Celaka anjing betina itu!!

God Damnit!! - Dilaknat tuhan!!

Keep the change - Simpan tukaran itu.

You have save my ass - Kau telah jimatkan punggung aku.

This is all bullshit!! - Ini semua tahi kerbau!!

They left in a flash - Mereka kekiri dengan pancaran kilat

Ready, aim, fire !! - Sedia, tuju, api!!

and many more..

Oh well, as if they want to pay a certified subtitlist for the job. As long as the profit is not affected.

Sorry guys, I really have nothing better to write for now
. Enjoy.
