What I am to you is not real..

I like this video. Well, actually it's not the music video for this song. It's actually a live recording session for AOL. but the way the did the video brings the emotions from the song out to me. (..ke aku je yang rasa camni?)

Anyway, ladies and gentlemen.. boys and girls.. This is Mr Damien Rice!!..

VOLCANO
by Damien Rice

Don't hold yourself like that
You'll hurt your knees
I kissed your mouth and back
But that's all I need
Don't build your world around volcanoes melt you down

What I am to you is not real
What I am to you you do not need
What I am to you is not what you mean to me
You give me miles and miles of mountains

And I'll ask for the sea
Don't throw yourself like that
In front of me
I kissed your mouth your back
Is that all you need?
Don't drag my love around volcanoes melt me down

What I am to you is not real
What I am to you you do not need
What I am to you is not what you mean to me
You give me miles and miles of mountains

And I'll ask for what I give to you
Is just what i'm going through
This is nothing new
No no just another phase of finding what I really need
Is what makes me bleed
And like a new disease she's still too young to treat
Volcanoes melt me down
She's still too young
I kissed your mouth
You do not need me

p.s I actually dreaming to produce such video.. simple, yet full of soul..(kan? kan?

Jump-start your life.

We always wanted to be successful in life. Everybody wants it. The only difference is our definition of success. Some might define it as how wealthy you are. Some define it as how powerful you are.. others might just define it as having a stable income, have a family and be happy..

What ever the reason is.. seems that in the era of reality TV, most show seems to define the perfect life would be to be filthy rich no matter how you get it, have a drop-dead-gorgeous look and be popular. Now, if that's the message TV sending to us.. then maybe 90% (if not 99%) of the world population falls under having imperfect to bad way of life..

Here's an article I got from on my email. It's an interesting suggestion to live your life.. read..

START LIVING

We live in a pathologically dissatisfied world. And I'm going to tell you why. Because we love to compare.

Go around the world and discover that people aren't happy with their bodies. Filipinos want to be fair-complexioned like Westerners and so buy bleaching stuff.

Westerners want to own bronzed bodies like ours and so purchase tanning lotions. Those with moles have them removed, while those who don't strategically implant beauty spots.

Some people want to shed a few pounds to look like Ally McBeal, while others want to gain some baby fat to look like Drew Barrymore.

When are we ever going to stop and simply be happy with how we look? We live in a sick world, I tell you. And that sickness is comparisonitis.

Take a look at wealth.

When we drive our old Honda, it really suits us fine. We feel blessed in fact when the rain pours outside and we feel snug and cozy on its faded upholstered seats.

But the moment we see our own office mate (or neighbor, or buddy, or cousin, or brother) drive his sleek sky-blue, four-door, four-wheel-drive Mercedez, we automatically feel like third-class children of God.

Next time we drive our bumpy, noisy, rusted, dilapidated honda,(notice how all the defects come out all of a sudden?), we feel deprived, dispossessed, pariah, debased and only a little higher than the insects of the earth.

Listen carefully.

Bill Gates total assets are worth $60 billion. That's more than the GNP of some small countries. Tiger Woods earns $80 million simply by smiling on TV in a Nike shirt. And the stars of the sitcom Friends are paid $750,000 per episode!

My point?

No matter how hard you work, there'll still be some people who will be richer than you are.

And there'll be some people who will be more beautiful, have more sex appeal, have more boyfriends and have more problems.

Try it for once. Stop looking around. Don't compare!

Don't compare her nose with your nose. Don't compare his wife with your wife. Don't compare his salary with your salary. Don't compare her breast size with your breast size. Don't compare her kids report card with your kids report card. Don't compare his prayer group with your prayer group. Don't compare her cellulite deposits with your cellulite deposits.

For crying out loud, Stop comparing and Start living! And you'll be happier with your life, I guarantee.

This is crucial:

The most difficult thing in the world is to be who you are not. Pretending and trying to be someone else is the official pastime of the human race. (I don't think dogs and cats and cows and horses have this problem.)

And the easiest thing in the world is to be yourself. Be happy. Live!

There must be a reason why God made you tall or short or fat or thin or bumpy all over.

Love who you are!

Be happy, it's not that difficult!

To the writer of this short article.. you rock!!

An attempt to make sense out of something

Kids are imaginative aren't they? I mean, we're kids once (some of us are still kids till now) right? Remember how imaginaive and creative we are back then? How a huge box can end up being a car, a hut or even table to us? Remember how a badminton racket can turn into a guitar or machine gun? It's amazing how creative we can be as kids right?

Along the way, we pick up new stuffs, learn new knowledge, understand the meaning of logic thinking and suddenly, creativity is no longer a part of our life.

I remember how as kids, we tend to imitate anything we saw that excites us. My youngest brother (now 25), make an effort to climb to the top shelve of our build-in cabinet at the age of 3, just to grab all our passports and start imagining himself as an immigration officer and stamp all our passports (which got my dad in a huge problem dealing with the immigration later..)

Some of us, even have imaginary friend. Not, just with a name and gender but that imaginary friend have a full personality.

So, as kids, we are creative and imaginative, what happen to all that? Why is it that some of us dare to say that they're not creative? Some even believe that to work in the creative industry, you must need a degree or masters in creativity (*duh*)

My wildest imagination as a kid would be thinking that the television is a device for us to see the other side of the world. I believe that if we can see people in UK or US thru the TV, they can also see us thru their TV. (which end up.. I take my bath with my cltthes on.. don;t want those people seeing me naked on TV)..

Back to the question, where have our creativity gone? Wht is it hard for many of us to play around with our imagination in managing daily routines and solving problems?

My ex-boss said to me once "Creativity is God given. You can learn creative thinking skills but in the end, creativity is God given" which I believe he's right on that.

So I've told you my wildest imagination as a kid. What's yours?

"It's easy if you try.. " - Imagine, John Lennon

Can you say "Happy Anniversary" ?

"hey, how have you been?" he said.

"Hello dear, I've been good. Let me turn on the webcam" she replied.

"Can you see me?"

"You look lovely today. You're all dressed up. Going anywhere?" he asked.

"No, silly. Just thought it would be great to dressed up tonight. You do know tonight is special. Right?"

"Of course. It's been 3 years we've known each other. Happy anniversary."

"It feeels like it was just yeaterday. How time flies"
she respond.

"True, but I still wonder... when can we actually meet face to face? 3 years and the closest I've seen you is through the webcam"

"Just let it be this way. Shall we? I don't think you would want to meet me in person."

"Why not? It's not like you're a terrorist or something." he asked curiously.

"Are you sure you're ready to meet me? Not going to regret it?"

"I've always ready to meet you in person since the night we chat online."

"OK then, let's make the meet interesting. You have to find the clues that would bring you to meet me. Can you do that?"

"I like games. Just don't make it too hard for me, please.."

"It's simple. Go to the national library tomorrow. Look for a The Daily Mail dated 21st March 2002."

"Look for my picture at page 31 and you'll know where to meet me"

"Alright then.. see you tomorrow"

He went to the library as promised. Thinking that he would finally meet her. "Nice to finally meet you, Eliza." he thought.

Looking through the newspaper archieves, he found the exact newspaper he need to find. The Daily Mail, 21st March 2002. "That was easy. Now, to look for her picture at page 31"

As he flipped to page 31, he saw her picture. It's a very lovely picture with a some words written for it.

OBITUARY
In loving memory..
You will always be in our heart and mind
We'll miss you Eliza

Would he go and meet her now? Wanna check the webcam again?

BRIGHT LIGHTS
By R. Thomas

SHE GOT OUT OF TOWN
ON A RAILWAY NEW YORK BOUND
TOOK ALL EXCEPT MY NAME
ANOTHER ALIEN ON BROADWAY

THERE'S SOME THINGS IN THIS WORLD
YOU JUST CAN'T CHANGE
SOME THINGS YOU CAN'T SEE
UNTIL IT GETS TOO LATE

BABY, BABY, BABY
WHEN ALL YOUR LOVE IS GONE
WHO WILL SAVE ME
FROM ALL I'M UP AGAINST OUT IN THIS WORLD
MAYBE, MAYBE, MAYBE
YOU'LL FIND SOMETHING
THAT'S ENOUGH TO PLEASE YOU
BUT IF THE BRIGHT LIGHTS DON'T RECEIVE YOU
YOU CAN TURN YOURSELF AROUND
AND COME ON HOME

I GOT A HOLE IN ME NOW
I GOT A SCAR I CAN TALK ABOUT
SHE KEEPS A PICTURE OF ME
IN HER APARTMENT IN THE CITY
SOME THINGS IN THIS WORLD
THEY DON'T MAKE SENSE
SOME THINGS YOU DON'T NEED
UNTIL THEY LEAVE YOU
AND THEY'RE THINGS THAT YOU MISS

(CHORUS)

LET THAT CITY TAKE YOU IN
LET THAT CITY SPIT YOU OUT
LET THAT CITY TAKE YOU DOWN
FOR GOD'S SAKE TURN AROUND

Wish you were here...

OK OK.. It's cheap to cut and paste in a blog. (I'm sorry dear blogging purist and idealist.. I don't care!) Here's a story that I received from a friend on my email. A very interesting and heart warming story. Yet able to make your mind think.

I WISH YOU ENOUGH

Recently, I overheard a mother and daughter in their last moments together at the airport as the daughter's departure had been announced. Standing near the security gate, they hugged and the mother said, "I love you and I wish you enough."

The daughter replied, "Mom, our life together has been more than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough, too, Mom."

They kissed and the daughter left. The mother walked over to the window where I sat. Standing there, I could see she wanted and needed to cry.

I tried not to intrude on her privacy but she welcomed me in by asking, "Did you ever say good-bye to someone knowing it would be forever?"

"Yes, I have," I replied. "Forgive me for asking but why is this a forever goodbye?" "I am old and she lives so far away. I have challenges ahead and the reality is the next trip back will be for my funeral," she said.

"When you were saying good-bye, I heard you say, "I wish you enough." May I ask what that means?"

She began to smile. "That's a wish that has been handed down from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone." She paused a moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail and she smiled even more.

"When we said 'I wish you enough' we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them".

Then turning toward me, she shared the following, reciting it from memory.

I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.

I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.

I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.

I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in
life appear much bigger.

I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.

I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you
possess.

I wish you enough helloes to get you through the final
good-bye.

She then began to cry and walked away. They say it takes a minute to find a special person, An hour to appreciate them, A day to love them, And an entire life to forget them.

Here's from me to all of you..

I WISH YOU ENOUGH !!!

Congratulations! You have reached the gate to the real world

So, it's that time again. The time of the year where some would be smiling with happiness, some would show their tears (either for joy, sadness or plain after effect from being scolded by the parents), some would show off and some others might just run away.

It is the time when all 17-18 years old students will read the newspapers. It is the time when the mothers start the "my child is better than yours" campaign. The school principal would launch "my school is better than yours" campaign.

What can you say? It's the SPM results. It's the result that which many would regard as the point where you life would begin. You will then segregated into categories : the worthy for best education the world to give, the worthy for best education the country could provide, the not so worthy with a chance to further their studies, the not so worthy with the right connection to take the worthy's place of getting the best education from the world and so on..

If you want to know how the actual life in Malaysia, take a good observation over every situation evolving around this period of time.. the day where SPM results are out and the few weeks after that. That's the general Malaysian personality in a nutshell... at it's best.

Oh well, I would congratulate Nur Amalina Che Bakri from Ulu Tiram, Johor for being the best SPM student for 2004. (You know, if she's in a boarding school right now, she'll be the laughing stock for being a person living in Ulu Tiram by the city kids). With 17 straight A's, unpurposely humiliate those students in the urban schools and also the boarding schools. (Oh well, who needs a great result when you have a powerful alumni?)..

Oh Amalina (may I call you Amalina?) .. I heard you state your ambition to be the first lady Prime Minister of Malaysia? You're in deep trouble girl. Deep trouble for even think of that. The PM wannabes are already planning on how to get rid of you, faster than you put a fullstop to that sentence. Anyway, with your results, any country would want to take you if these people bother you.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL..

This is where I've been..

Half of my time last February was spent in the land of Temasek. Yes, some of you might just say "pindah sana aje laa.." but that's all up to me isn't it? (suka hati aku la.. hahah)..

Anyway, this is where I've been last weekend.

It is a tiring weekend, but it's all worth it. The show went on despite of the rain and the humidity. Oh well, look at this picture and you know where am I at the concert.

Anyway, thank you to all who's been supporting the concert. Special thanks to Maliah of Kosmo newspaper for a 2 pager news on the concert today. It was really great to have that. (the rest of the press, I'm still waiting..)
