I've watched many award shows. I've been to many award shows. In fact, I've worked on award shows before.
In award shows, you'll see great performances. You'll see people presenting awards and the most important part of show are those people who receive the awards.
This is the acceptance speech by Red Hot Chili Peppers, who just add another 4 Grammys to their collections. I respect them for their songs. Now, I respect them for not forgetting the people who work with them behind the scene. Especially, the sound engineers.
I don't remember any local artiste who credited their sound engineers for receiving an award on their album. Most of the time, they thank God (duh, aren't we all need to thank God?) and their parents (bringing you up does not make a good album) and the Label bosses.
NO, I don't say that you should not thank them. But, most of the time they forgot to credit their own Managers, Personal Assistants, Crews and Sound Engineers. Which is sad because.. if not for these people, they are not where they are now. (No, they don't care if you're famous now.. they're doing their job)
And I don't say all artistes are stuck-ups. Just some of them.
Then again, why bother reminding them when they are floating high in the air far away from you? Wait till they drop hard on the ground and see if it's worth reminding them or just squash them really hard.. Either way, it's up to you.
Let see if our artiste would say such thing at the AIM this year. Let see if they can identify who are the important people behind their success. Shall we?
While you're at it, this is the latest video from Red Hot Chili Peppers. Seems that their videos are getting more people-centric lately. I wish to see more of such from our local bands.
After all, this year's AIM is meant for the unsung heroes of the music industry.
