13 Becomes 31

So, I'm a year older now. (I can mockingly feel insecure and change the word 'older' to anyt word of my preference) My birthday yesterday was a Bomb... bombed by lot of project papers to complete, bombed by 2 project presentation at the management meeting. Bombed by all digital birthday wishes by family and friends.

Digital technology does make it easier for us to communicate, isn't it? There's only 2 face-to-face birthday that I received. One from a friend at Sri Damansara the night before, and another was from one of the collegue in the office. The rest was either by phone, SMS (normal charges apply), emails, Instant Messaging or message board on Friendster or Myspace. (just imagine, even most of my collegue in the office wish me using's too convenient isn't it?)

ANYWAY, truely from the bottom of my heart (it's not that deep, really..) I would like to say thank you to all who've made a huge effort to remember my Birthday (yes, it's HUGE. the simplest action can be the hardest thing to do ..)

1. ABAH and MAMA :- My dear parent who will never forget any of our birthdays. To whom I learn a lot about life from. (I know understand clearly, remembering birthdays is the simplest thing to keep us together) Thank you for calling the night before my birthday.

2. SHA and EDDY :- For calling all the way from Singapore to wish me 'Happy Birthday' right after midnight. In fact that's the first 2 wishes I received on the date itself. Bhumiband still top of the list guys.. We're family

3. Ellene :- For the first SMS wish at 3am. (apsal tido lambat? budak kecik mana boleh tido lambat.)

4. Eda, Chics and Jef :- collegues in the office who wish me using YM. (hahaha.. apa takleh cakap ke? apa shh shh??..)

5. My cousins and relatives- Kak Ri, Ani, Ain, Zura and Syafeeq :- Mentang -mentang dah online.. wish pun online je.. Thank you.

6. Ex-collegue at nv7-Lotfi and Yanti:- .. Thank you (Ingat jugak tu..) Really appreciated.

7. Wishes on the tagboard- Naz, Anisism, Sade, Sheryl, Jaja, Pepper, Ika and Binx:- Hey, the wishes ease the work stress yesterday. Serious..

8. YM wishers-Iskandar, Khad, Mel:- Mostly are surprised wishes. I don't know how you know.. But THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

9. Wishes from Friendster-Zura, Iana, Zuher, Mohariz, Jaja Aziz, Slyn, Sharil:- It was thoughtful of you.

10. My Brother SYAH and family:- The best wishes this year definitely come from your house. Receiving call with 3-year-old Hanan Afiqah singing 'Happy Birthday' in FULL.. and ask 'ada potong-potong tak?' (she refer cake cutting ceremony as 'potong-potong') immediately after she's done singing was GREAT!.. Simply the best wish I got yesterday.

THOSE OF YOU I forgot to mention, I apologise for not mentioning.. my appreciation is as high with those mentioned above. Thank you for all well-wishes, prayers and for the thoughts..

AMIN, AMIN ... YA RABBAL ALAMIN.. to me and to all of you.

Mari menonton wayang dibawah kerlipan bintang dan sinaran lampu minyak tanah.. (gila panjang title)

Hehehe.. Excuse me for the long title. I just won myself to tickets to go to Starlight Cinema 2005. Unfortunately, I need to use the ticket before 25th June, which also means I'll use it either tonight or tomorrow. (and I still don't know who to bring along..) Whatever it is.. either I'm going or I'm not, since the prize ticket is non-transferable, if it happens that I'm not going, kira burn je la..

Oh, now I remember why I need to update this blog... Lissa manage to add more work for me by passing me BookMeme to answer. (thank you Lissa, that was thoughtful of you.. What if I say I'm Illeterate, can I skip all this?) .. Anyway, here goes..

1. How many books do I own?
A LOT!!, some here in KL home, some in the boxes somewhere here, some back in JB, a few in the office, some given to other people, some even stolen by other people.. SO.. It's A LOT..How would I know how many in total? Do I look like a librarian to you?

2. The last book i bought?
Have not been buying books lately, I'm 'slightly' a cheapskate... my latest craze is buying backdated magazines at Mont Kiara Flea Market. I can spend RM40-RM50 for magazines there at the price of RM10 for 3. OK, if you insist on books... I think it's Mitch Albom's '5 People You Meet in Heaven' somewhere last year. That's about it.

3. Five books that meant a lot to me

a. Shawshank Redemption - Stephen King
b. Being Happy - Andrew Matthews
c. 5 People You Meet in Heaven - Mitch Albom
d. All Anne Rice's novel
e. by saying all to Anne Rice's novel.. it's already more then 5.. now shoo!!..I'm not explaning why all those meant a lot to me. I have my reasons..

People that I want to pass this on??
How many should I list down?. 5..10..27??..

1. Axuerra - She'll pass to be a librarian anytime. Semua buku dia tahu..
2. Yamster - Ni sorang lagi ni.. Buku je kerja dia..
3. Zura - I just want the Manchester version for this.
4. Nong - You need to answer this. My turn to pass questions.
5. TAKDE DAH.. aku malas nak pikir siapa lagi nak bagi.. It's almost noon la.

Anyway.. HAVE A NICE WEEKEND PEOPLE.. I'm moving to a new place this weekend. Goodbye Kelana Jaya for good.

Newsflash : There's no Flasher Around here..

What else to say when all my plans made for the weekend are either cancelled, postponed or totally forgotten... THat would make an exciting weekend doesn;t it?

Anyway, excuse me for not being able to update the blog more regularly than I would want it. It is really hard make time to update the blog when there are so many things to figure out and get it done in the shortest time possible and all of it ranked urgent in the priority list. (and all of it are work related)..

OK, enough about work. I would not spill all this out until it is all done and going.

THIS JUST CAME IN... My thoughts over a few issues disccussed around me, going live in 3...2....1... we're on air..

: Yes, personally experienced that when I'm in secondary school. Hostel life is tough.. That's what make us who we are now. Independant, survivor, strategic thinker.. and yet, values brotherhood and friendship like one strong family.

However, what we heard on the news lately was way out of boundaries. And sadly say, all of it came from Religious School..

Here's an opinion "We all learn about religion, some of us learn deeper about religion and practice it well.. But THAT DOES NOT GIVE YOU THE LICENCE TO PUNISH ANYBODY YOU FEEL WRONG IN WHATEVER WAYS YOU WANT TO PUNISH THEM FOR THE SAKE OF - IN THE NAME OF GOD" and I hope everybody got this clear. (that includes you too.. other religion practitioner who think about the same way..) Because, If you think God will be very proud of what you're doing.. He's NOT!.

WEDDING AND 'DUIT HANTARAN' : So.. I wonder of all those years I live, I've always heard about the mother putting high price on the daughter and so on. Some put the pricing based of market value, some do a bit of research checking latest pricing trends (looks, image, job, status etc etc etc..)

HERE'S MY OPINION (although it would matter coz I'll never get any chance to fix price..but here goes..)

3. Ada after-sales service tak? Value-added Service.. Kalau dia buat perangai tak senonoh dia tu.. Makcik marah saya ke marah dia?.. Saya customer tau..

4. Laa makcik.. angin lak? Macam mana nak letak harga anak tinggi-tinggi kalau baru tanya camni pun dah nak marah?.. Kan ke potential buyer ni..

Hehe.. SO there you go. An Update by a screwed-up (almost) mind of me.

p.s Now, do not speculate that this happened to me.. Girlfriend pun takde la.. How can such thing happen to me in any way?. JUst a thought from things happening around me last weekend..

All Rise for Lord Vader.. son of Eddie..

ATTENTION MOVIE GOERS.. This has just came in..

KUALA LUMPUR: Movie-goers may have to stand up and sing the national anthem before the start of the film as a mark of respect and appreciate the Negaraku campaign conducted by the Information Ministry.

Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Arshad Hashim said cinemas were being encouraged to play the anthem after all commercials and movie trailers were shown.
The Star Online

I don't know what got them thinking that would be the ultimate and effective way to inculcate sense of patriotism to every Malaysians but, my shallow guess would be, what other way can make them popular without having they themselves having to do anything physically?..

Just imagine, you walk into a cinema, with the mind set eagerly to watch a horror movie. Suddenly, right before they begin the movie, you heard this sound of brass band music, and everybody have to stand up and sing 'Negaraku' together.

As a result, when the movie starts, you are all hyped up with patriotism to watch a horror movie. Cool isn't it?

Try feeling all patriotic to watch a romantic movie. Or maybe, feeling all patriotic to watch a comedy. Sounds fun isn;t it? Sounds almost similar to the topic 'Sex Education in the mood of Sesame Street' proposed in the show 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?' hosted by Drew Carrey...

THE CONCLUSION? Maybe it's just another idea to fit in the tag-line of 'Whose Line Is It Anyway'..

Have a wonderful weekend ahead everybody.

I love you for everything that you are and everything that I am now..

Have you ever, at any one time, had the feeling that life is bad, real bad, and you wish you were in another situation? You find life make things difficult for you, work sucks, life sucks, everything seems to go wrong...

Read the following story... it may change your views about life:

After a conversation with one of my friends, he told me despite taking 2 jobs, he brings back barely above 1K per month, he is happy as he is.

I wonder how he can be as happy as he is considering he has to skimp his life with the low pay to support a pair of old parents, in-laws, a wife, 2 daughters and the many bills of a household.

He explained that it was through one incident that he saw in India... that happened a few years ago when he was really feeling low and touring India after a major setback.

He said that right in front of his very eyes he saw an Indian mother chop off her child's right hand with a chopper. The helplessness in the mother's eyes, the scream of pain from the innocent 4-year-old child haunted him until today.

You may ask why did the mother do so; had the child been naughty, had the child's hand been infected?? No, it was done for two simple words - TO BEG!

The desperate mother deliberately caused the child to be handicapped so that the child could go out to the streets to beg.

Taken aback by the scene, he dropped a piece of bread he was eating half-way. And almost instantly, a flock of 5 or 6 children swamped towards this small piece of bread which was covered with sand, robbing bits from one another. The natural reaction of hunger.

Stricken by the happenings, he instructed his guide to drive him to the nearest bakery. He arrived at two bakeries and bought every single loaf of bread he found in the bakeries. The owner was dumbfounded but willingly sold everything. He spent less than $100 to obtain about 400 loaves of bread (this is less than $0.25 per loaf) and spent another $100 to get daily necessities.

Off he went in the truck full of bread into the streets. As he distributed the bread and necessities to the children (mostly handicapped) and a few adults, he received cheers and bows from these unfortunate. For the first time in his life he wondered how people can give up their dignity for a loaf of bread which cost less than $0.25.

He began to tell himself how fortunate he is. How fortunate he is to be able to have a complete body, have a job, have a family, have the chance to complain what food is nice and what isn't nice, have the chance to be clothed, have the many things that these people in front of him are deprived of...

Now I begin to think and feel it, too! Was my life really that bad?

Perhaps... no, I should not feel bad at all... What about you? Maybe the next time you think you are, think about the child who lost one hand to beg on the streets.

"Contentment is not the fulfillment of what you want, it is the realization of how much you already have."

When the door of happiness closes, another opens, but often times we look so long at the closed door that we don't see the one which has been opened for us.

It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives.

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past, you can't go on well in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.

Please send this message to those people who mean something to you, to those who have touched your life in one way or another, to those who make you smile when you really need it, to those that make you see the brighter side of things when you are really down, to those who you want to let them know that you appreciate their friendship.

And if you don't, don't worry, nothing bad will happen to you, you will just miss out on the opportunity to brighten someone's day with this message.

p.s I've been very busy. No, busy is no longer a word to understand aymore. It's more like part of life now. Hope we learn to appreciate life more with the article. I know I am. HAVE A GREAT WEEK AHEAD
