Is it video or podcast that kills the radiostar?..

Event : "Radiostar Undefined" @ Tanchap Radiostar.
Date : 31st March 2006 (Friday)
Time : 9:00 pm
Venue : ROOFTOP (No, it's not a name of a shop..)Kompleks Niaga Utama UDA, Bangsar Utama, KL

Yes, Layar Tanchap is back! Those of you who have been to the previous series of performance at various places such as Coffee Hut Rasta, PTPL, Balai Seni Lukis or maybe their Terengganu stint would definitely know what's it all about.

Those of you who have not been to any 'Layar Tanchap' events before. It's never too late to start. It would be a night to remember.

Those of you who're wondering what the hell Layar Tanchap is.. Here's a basic explanation by one of their committed organising committee..

It's got me by my soul to squeeze..

SOUL TO SQUEEZE - Red Hot Chilli Peppers

Sorry YouTube, I've been looking for this song the whole week and you got none in your collection. This is a nice song by Red Hot Chilli Peppers. It's an old song, not featured in any of their album. It's a song made for the soundtrack of 'The Coneheads' (yes, that movie about those cone-pointed head aliens who end up, prefer to be earthlings than being in their planet of origin)

Anyway, let's talk about Team spirit. People says a lot about it but somehow, don't really get what it actually means.

Let's try point out the elements of a great team.

1. A team shared a similar direction, each member need not be in a uniformed character and personality, but need to have the same goal and ambition.

2. A great team need not to identify who's the star among them. Public may label one of them as a star but they are aware that each and every one of them is a star in their own rights.

3. A team understands each other, others might find it absurd on how a team deals among themselves, but nobody will know unless they are a part of the team.

4. A team take care of each other, just like family, if one of them is hurt, the rest felt the same way, and the protector of the team will not hesitate to take action to those who offends one of them.

5. MOST IMPORTANT : A team does not hit another member behind their backs. We trust each other with our lives.

To understand more about those elements, try watch a soccer game. A full 90 minutes of any EPL match might make you understand about team spirit and those elements I've stated above.

Where I go I just don't know
I got to, got to, gotta take it slow
When I've found my piece of mind
I'm gonna give you some of my good time

Think about it

p.s Never try to hurt my team in any way. I know some have tried and you will feel the heat soon.. (directly or indirectly)

And the real F1 winner is....

Welcome back F1 fans. Did you manage to watch the race last Sunday? That was an interesting race isn't it? With Button surprise lead, Raikonnen out of the race at the very first lap. Fisichella winning instead of Alonso, Massa in front of Schumacher, Ferrari taking the top ten spots after starting the race from behind and BMW Sauber making a competitive runs against the other top teams. Is what a race that you can't really predict till the end of the last lap. What more could you ask to watch a great race?

I am a Ferrari fan, and I still do. Still, I salute to Renault team for the 1-2 victory. I also salute to BMW Sauber for a convincing performance. (that engine blow on the 49th lap is way better than hitting the fence on 1st lap.. hehe). BUT BUT.. The one person (or team.. I don't know) that we should salute and maybe give a standing ovation throughout the race would be our very own Weather Consultant or 'Bomoh Hujan' as we call them in Malay.

So here's my respect to BOMOH HUJAN. Without them, the track would be really wet, the race would be uninteresting and maybe, more people would just go elsewhere and not be watching F1 on TV (trust me, the couch in front of the TV is the BEST grand stand)

Even the two commentators on TV thought it was weird to see the rain drizzling and stop for less than 2 minutes..

So, Mr Bomoh Hujan.. You have made us Malaysians proud. More than any other Malaysian involvement in the F1.

p.s Baru dia tahu siapa terer.. hahahahha

We have got to move you darling...

It's been almost 3 weeks since the Oil Price Hike. Times are bad in a way, the rich older generations getting richer. The new generations will have to pay the price for the mistakes our elders made. Oh well, what else are we here for anyway? Of course to repend the sins of the elder others. Or else, why would they have us here? Making the world a better place for us? hahaha.. I don't think so.

So, analysing the after effects.. made me wonder..

1. How does it feel to work in an Oil Conglomerate, having a salary raise, while other people around the world suffers because of it? Maybe even die in their own house with nothing to eat, just because the company I'm working for taking the oil by force? - That should be a happy feeling isn't it?

2. How do you feel, bacause of the price hike, some company had no other choice but to cut their cost by cutting their staff's salary, or even worst, had to let their staff go without a job? Some of these staffs have wife and kids to take care.. - This should feel increadibly wonderful right?

3. And because of that, other utilities such as Water and Electricity have no choice but to hike up their tariffs as well, which resulting many places have to cut their cost on electricity, such as computer labs for university, public library and even some parents might think twice of buying a computer for their children's education needs, simply because they just can't afford to have it ??.. - This is great for national development right?

And ALL THAT.. happens as you, who work in the petroleum industry got your salary raise. Isn't that great?

Now GO tell your family about the GOOD NEWS you got. Now!!... While they are still alive with what's left with them.

p.s Somehow .. Here is Gone..

This is special announcement..

I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
....your advice
- Heart-shaped Box(Nirvana)

I've wrote about this before some in 2004. Something about effective public campaign and what it takes to have a great copywriting and art direction for such campaign. Well, there are a lot of good effective campaigns around (and I don't mean 'Katakan Tak Nak' and 'Belia Benci Dadah' are among them). Trust me, I takes more than just 'konon-konon' catchy slogans to make it effective. What we really look for is a way to get the message clear and understood by the public perfectly..

Here's an example of such campaign. Made by the authority in Thailand.

Slide in the Pride..

Not many bands can survive long in the music industry. A good band need to have their own concept, their own sound in music and their own music philosophy. The best part of a band is when they are able to express freely about themselves through their songs based on the life philosophy that they believe in.

But, whatever ways they choose to express thier views and believes, It's great to know how many bands do their bit to the community. May it be about world peace, or maybe about famine and anti-war, rock bands never stops expressing their concerns about the people around them.

Here's a small example how a rock band do their bit to motivate children in doing good and feeling great about thier good deeds. It is a small effort towards a much bigger contribution.

Ladies and gentlemen.. presenting Goo Goo Dolls featuring the cute Elmo. Performing the altered lyrics from their hit single 'Slide'..

(for smooth viewing, right after you click 'play'.. click 'pause' button and wait till the loading bar to load till the end. While waiting for that.. go do something else..)

p.s We don't really have a great locally made, children's TV show. I remembered 'Cumi dan Ciki' but that's like ancient. Maybe it's about time to have a great childrens show tailored to the needs of the locals.

If anything could ever be this good again...?

EVERLONG - Foo Fighters

Hello, I’ve waited here for you, everlong
Tonight, I throw myself into and out of the red, out of her head she sang

Come down and waste away with me, down with me
Slow how, you wanted it to be, I’m over my head, out of her head she sang
And I wonder when I sing along with you,
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again

The only thing I’ll ever ask of you
You’ve got to promise not to stop when I say when she sang

Breathe out, so I can breathe you in, hold you in
And now, I know you’ve always been out of your head, out of my head I sang

And I wonder when I sing along with you,
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again

The only thing I’ll ever ask of you
You’ve got to promise not to stop when I say when she sang

And I wonder if everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I’ll ever ask of you
You’ve got to promise not to stop when I say when

Foo Fighters has always been one of my favourite band. Not many American bands made into my favourite list..(wait, they're Canadians..) First of all, the melody must be great. Even if it's a hard rock band, good music still needs good melody as a foundation. Then comes the arrangements, a well arranged song could hook you up to listen to the song over and over again.

.. and last but definitely not the least is the lyrics. Most people say, lyrics does not matter. Some even have the guts to say that lyrics is just an add-on that's not really important.

To me, a good song needs a good lyric. A good song have a lyric that beautifully written (again.. beauty, is very subjective). A good lyric should be able to get people's feeling into the story behind the song, which also means that the lyric does make sense to the people and they can relate to the story perfectly.

And Foo Fighters never fails to do that. At least to me...

Here's Everlong.. Enjoy.

p.s Maybe having Kurt Cobain dead with all the Nirvana rights falls to Courtney Love is the best thing that happens to Dave Grohl. (Just Kidding...)

Live life to the fullest... (Lagi lali manyak laju wooo...)

Seems like I've becoming a lazy bum by the day since we beginning of 2006. First of all, most of the things at work taking a slower pace compared to last year. I, for once, although the work never seems to get lesser, I'm now taking more recreation time than last year. Maybe it's a cosmic sign that no matter how much workload you're facing, as a human, we still need to take some time off and this slow beginning of 2006 is just an indication that nature is forcing to take a short break, rather than experiencing 'short circuit' later

Still, this is 2006. We're already moving to March. 2006 is suppose to be an active year. It is in fact the sporting year. That already shows how active you need to be.

Cut things short.. Among the major sporting event for you to be aware of..

1. WORLD CUP 2006 - The No.1 sporting event (I belive Olympics falls no.2 now..) This is the time where mamak stalls will be full of screaming fans, even on weekdays. This is the time where many people will end up being sleepy in the daytime. This is also the time where girlfriends and wives patience and understanding are tested to the maximum.

World Cup will be take the no.1 spot on the priority list. Nothing can change that for the next 8 weeks or so (unless of course... nature's call)

2. F1 GRAND PRIX - OK.. So not everybody appreciate this sport. But, come on.. at least this is one international event that will happen in Malaysia every year. This year, it would definitely be more ever. At least there's more teams to watch for than the previous year (kalau tak.. asyik Ferrari je dulu.. boring la kan?..) hahaha.. So, I'm eager to see what Renault, McLaren and Ferrari got to offer this year. So much so, I'm also eager to see how the new BMW-Sauber team doing.. Other than that.. as usual.. Ferrari Rocks!!.. (peduli apa??) Oh.. I think I want to get the BMW Sauber Shirt this year. (.. and hope Petronas will lower their petrol price.. No??.. hahah)

3. THE COMMONWEALTH GAMES, Melbourne - Dubbed as the no.2 biggest sporting event after Olympics. If the word 'big' refers to the number of delegates participating the event, then I would agree. In terms of worldwide attention, I do believe World Cup receive more attention, even compared to Olympics. Anyway.. er.. Malaysia Boleh!! (err.. or is it 'Malaysia Boleh?.. Seriously, the sign at the end of the phrase confused me..)

4. OK.. Maybe it's unfair to list this sport at no.4 on the list. This sport definitely got majority Malaysians go crazy everyday in the past years, it should be on the no.1 sport right??.. It's the RACE AGAINST THE OTHER SMS VOTES.. or in the typical kampung speak.. 'LUMBA TAIP SMS'. Agree?? Face it.. AF will not go anywhere. In fact they start to rip people's hard-earn money early this year by giving the public the chance to vote for the songs that should be listed for the new student to sing. Now, How sick (I mean in a good 'Makcik Sayang Mawi' way..) is that?

Whatever it is, this is definitely an active year. Even if you're a couch potato by profession, this year will got you at least move your fingers actively.. (either for channel surfing thru the remote control OR busy typing SMS votes) more than you ever imagined..

p.s I tried to follow Winter Olympics this year. Unfortunately, Jamaica didn't send a team for Bobsledge this year..So, that kills my interest.
